Club champs start in South Africa

Pirates battle against Coalminers
The National Club Championships stared at Rand Afrikaans University (RAU) in Johannesburg on Saturday. There were several big wins, a close encounter and a tough time for Pirates.

Pirates played Witbank Ferros. Deep into the second half, with the score 23-19 Ferros had three golden opportunities to score and missed them.

College Rovers of Durban just scraped home against Vanderbijlpark of the Falcons. Cambridge of Border surprised Wellington of the Boland.

The other results were clear-cut, even Parks' 48-30 win over Welkom, for the Eastern Province side scored seven tries to one.
